The Fourth & Largest tenor - Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan dragging Qawwali into the 21st century

PHIL SWEENEY from “The Independent” calls Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan the best and largest tenor (the highest male singing voice) and  recommend him over Luciano, Placido and Jose (most Popular Opera Voices of 90’s). Author goes on to describe his collaborations and innovative experiments which Though we know pretty well that “the best tenor” tag will never be enough to sum up the huge NFAK ( In each and every possible translation of this statement). Read this article for a great take on the “New Nusrat with his Experiments & Fusion”

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan annoys purists, but he is also dragging Qawwali into the 21st century.

A great fusion by NFAK (Classical, Folk, Filmy & Western.. All In One)

Every time I listen to something great from NFAK, I feel what more can he give me now?, well he always proves me wrong with something new, better and greater … Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was a living “University Of Music” in himself, If a man can grab the familiar tunes and musical environment of a country just by listening to their TV advertisements, and then incorporate it in his music almost instantly….then, Jeff Buckley was absolutely right in quoting “he did’nt play music, he was the music”. Back to story… yesterday I heard something amazing from NFAK, a fusion of Classical Music, Folk Music & Western tunes… A great composition & innovation… While NFAK sings Raga Tilak Kamot, Taraman Naz & Salama Aga(fame, Dil Ke Armaan) sings folk and contemprory music respectively, surrounded by all sorts and varities of classical as well as western instuments… Everything perfectly into place. Take a look… [Read More]

NFAK's Music In Therapy/Treatment and this time "Child Birth"

Nusrat’s haunting voice has been one of a kind music-therapy for his fans for years now, it seems to wash away the pain and transport us a more joyous world, or some times closer to divine. Well this is not the first time , I have heard stories of NFAK’s music used in treatment. Even when back in 90’s NFAK received “Pride Of Performance” in Pakistan, the rumour was that his songs treated the disturbed daughter of the military ruler. Then there were many reports from Japan and parts of Africa where NFAK’s music was used in Research and therapy. But this time I have a story of NFAK’s music used in Clild Birth.

“What A Lucky Child, He came to this world Listening to the Legend”

So you all might be knowing about the famous KCRW “Radio Station” , NFAK himself made a couple visits here. Here is a story from KRCW’s DJ, Tom Schnabel about how NFAK’s music was used during birth of Anil Dewan’s son (KRCW’s Webmaster).. read along..
